It isn’t every day that Yamaha unveils a new flagship model, but today is that day. The 242 Limited S E-Series is a wonderful mix of solid performance, useful functionality and posh style. There is a tremendous amount of ingenuity designed into this boat that makes it perfect for any family outing, friend get together, or sporting adventure. No matter what your day consists of, it’s going to be just a little better thanks to this new Yamaha.
This 24’ stylish sailer has seating for up to 12 people to fit comfortably in a variety of seating positions and areas. Nicely appointed seats with two-toned stitching and custom color schemes surround guests in the lap of luxury. The self-draining cockpit holds up to six of those guests in a U-shaped formation to make socializing just a little more simplified. Up front the captain’s chair has a flip up bolster, and has adjustable height to maximize sight lines and viewing angles. The companion’s chair is nearly identical to the captain’s chair, except that it can rotate 360-degrees to allow for supervising, and/or mocking anyone that may be tubing or skiing behind. There is no bolster to the side seat, but it’s a safe bet, it won’t be missed.
At the helm of this beautiful ship, the captain is treated to an intuitive main control center that is very easy to operate and displays just about piece of useful information anyone would need to safely operate the 242 S E-Series. The Yamaha Connext drive control system is now in its second iteration and is better than ever. The real-time display shows speed, compass heading, RPM, fuel levels, water depth and even has the ability to connect to both satellite and terrestrial radio funneled through a Polk Marine sound system, and even has USB and Bluetooth.
Up towards the bow, the seating area is enticingly creative. It can be configured and reconfigured in a multitude of ways depending on the amount and goals of the guests on board. Start with classic bench seats, or remove the forward-most cushions and create two jump-seats, or close up the entranceway and create a three seat bench, or bridge cushions across the aisle to create a chaise-like sun bed. Whatever your seating desire, there is a way to have it here.
Out on the stern side, there is more potential seating options. The SeaDek covered slip-resistant platform creates a very
user-friendly launching point for any and all watersports activities. To ad to the fun, there are waterproof stereo controls, and of course, speakers for musical enjoyment, and plenty of drink holders for … other types of adult beverage enjoyment.
