Crownline is known for building excellent boats that are not only high-quality, but also versatile enough to provide a little bit of everything, and the 255 SS is a stellar example of all those characteristics. It has the look, the posh, the style to get you invited to anywhere. Along with stunning good looks, this Crownline has been blessed with a multitude of luxury features that would make any getaway exciting for a solo mission or the whole family.
There is a U-wrap cockpit seating arrangement that makes socializing simple and effective, but still allows enough room to be comfortable. The hot tub style bow lounge seats have flip-up arm rests and more storage than most normal people will be able to use unless they are sailing around the world.
The Crownline 255 SS comes replete with some very luxurious features. The centerpiece being the Raymarine A65 Touchscreen MFD with gateway cable and engine info to keep everyone up to date on whats going on with the most important aspects of the voyage. There is also a marine stereo with eight, count’em eight, speakers to make sure everyone is entertained and can hear the tunes over the rumble of the engine. There is also a Soft Touch pad topping the integral swim platform so kids or adults can climb into and out of water with minimal risk of slipping so the fun can keep going. There is a portable side-mount table that flips out and back away for convenience and versatility, a dual battery switch, a pressurized water system to help bathing and washing be as little of a hassle as possible, a hand held transom shower to make it even easier, a cockpit carpet that most anyone’s feet will appreciate, a bow and cockpit canvas, a bimini top, kneeboard in-floor lockable ski storage with a hinged lid that is cavernous and holds seemingly endless amounts of stuff, and an aft-facing platform seating with transom speakers and fender storage. There is also a very feature laden head compartment that sports a handheld shower, porta potti, portlight window, light, and cabinets complete with a sink to make your rest room stops, actually restful.
While the 255 SS will by no means be confused for a power boat, but with room for up to 12 people, that’s probably for the best.
With a max capacity of 1925 pounds, a dry weight of 5600 pounds and an overall length of 25’ 8”, this Crownline makes the most of its Catalyst Mercruiser 6.2L MPI Bravo III 300 horsepower engine. And while most speed freaks will say there’s no such thing as enough power, the 255 SS is more of a Grand Tourer than a speedster, but it plays its role very well.
Sitting at the helm of the 255 SS, it’s hard not to feel cool. Grab the thick rimmed wood and rubber steering wheel, look down at the two big gauges in front of you telegraphing the two most important things you want to know — speed and RPM, glance at the Touchscreen to make sure there are no important messages you might be overlooking, and take off in style. The control and power of the 255 SS are smooth and predictable. It’s power comes on strong with no surprises. Steering is firm yet responsive and helps make the 255 SS feel a lot smaller than it really is.
Either way, once you fire up the Crownline 255 SS, it can magically take on the persona of whatever sort of trip you are interested in embarking on. It has a luxurious, yet versatile look that helps it look at home cruising up the lake to sunbathe or jumping waves heading out to fish for tuna on the ocean. Whatever your adventure, the 255 SS can and will be the perfect boat to take you there.
